Position Overview:

• Job Title: Science Cover Supervisor

• Location:  St Helens

• Day Rate: £95 - £110 per day dependant on experience

• Start Date: ASAP

The Role:

As a Science Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to manage and supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain engaged and on task throughout the lesson.

Key responsibilities:

• Supervising whole-class lessons across various year groups, with a particular focus on science subjects.

• Delivering pre-set lesson materials, ensuring students follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.

• Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with the school’s policies and ensuring a positive learning environment.

• Providing support to students during lessons, helping them understand scientific concepts and tasks.

• Covering lessons in other subjects where required.

• Reporting student progress, engagement, and behaviour to teaching staff.

• Assisting with science-focused interventions or revision sessions as directed by the science department.

• Supporting practical science lessons where appropriate by helping to manage resources and maintain safety standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Holds a degree in a science-related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).

• Is enthusiastic about working with young people and supporting their education.

• Has strong communication and leadership skills, with the confidence to manage a classroom setting.

• Can adapt to different subjects and year groups when required.

• Has prior experience working with young people in an educational or mentoring capacity (desirable but not essential).

• Is organised, proactive, and capable of working independently.

• Understands safeguarding practices (training will be provided if necessary).
