SEMH Teaching Assistant – Short-Term Cover | South Sheffield | Elevate Supply

Elevate Supply is currently seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide short-term cover at one of our trusted partner schools in South Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require social, emotional, and mental health support.

🟢 This is a short-term position ideal for someone with a flexible schedule and a passion for helping young people through challenging circumstances.

🟢 Pay rate of £85 - £110 (Dependent on experience)

The Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students who need additional support managing their emotions, behaviour, and overall wellbeing. You'll play a key role in helping them engage with their learning and build positive relationships within school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work 1:1 or in small groups with students with SEMH needs

• Build trusting and supportive relationships

• Help students develop coping strategies and improve emotional regulation

• Support classroom engagement and behaviour

• Liaise with teachers and pastoral staff on student progress

What We’re Looking For:

✅ Experience working with children is essential – this can be within schools, youth work, or care settings
✅ Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and how to support young people through them
✅ Patience, empathy, and a calm approach
✅ Available to work in South Sheffield for a short-term placement
