Elevate Supply is proud to be supporting a highly specialist SEMH provision located just a short walk from Sheffield’s main train station in their search for a confident and resilient Teaching Assistant . This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people who face social, emotional and mental health challenges.
This full-time role is to begin as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the academic year, with strong potential for continuation or permanent placement.
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.
The Role:
As a SEMH TA, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or long-term difficulties with emotional regulation and behaviour. Working closely with the teaching team, you’ll lead structured activities, support learning, and provide essential pastoral care and behavioural guidance in a therapeutic and nurturing environment.
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions focused on emotional literacy, behaviour, and engagement
Support learning activities across the curriculum under teacher direction
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote safety and belonging
Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
Monitor emotional wellbeing and learning progress, reporting to key staff
Contribute to individual support plans and work closely with pastoral staff and external agencies
What We’re Looking For:
TA qualification or equivalent (essential)
Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs (essential)
Resilient, calm, and patient with a trauma-informed mindset
Skilled in relationship-building and setting consistent boundaries
Team player with excellent communication and a proactive attitude
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
