SEMH HLTA – Sheffield (Close to Train Station) | Elevate Supply

Elevate Supply is proud to be supporting a highly specialist SEMH provision located just a short walk from Sheffield’s main train station in their search for a confident and resilient Teaching Assistant . This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people who face social, emotional and mental health challenges.

This full-time role is to begin as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the academic year, with strong potential for continuation or permanent placement.

Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.

The Role:
As a SEMH TA, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or long-term difficulties with emotional regulation and behaviour. Working closely with the teaching team, you’ll lead structured activities, support learning, and provide essential pastoral care and behavioural guidance in a therapeutic and nurturing environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions focused on emotional literacy, behaviour, and engagement

  • Support learning activities across the curriculum under teacher direction

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote safety and belonging

  • Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques

  • Monitor emotional wellbeing and learning progress, reporting to key staff

  • Contribute to individual support plans and work closely with pastoral staff and external agencies

What We’re Looking For:

  • TA qualification or equivalent (essential)

  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs (essential)

  • Resilient, calm, and patient with a trauma-informed mindset

  • Skilled in relationship-building and setting consistent boundaries

  • Team player with excellent communication and a proactive attitude

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
