Role:

We are looking for an experienced secondary school teacher with a specialist knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales to join our team of passionate teachers, working to create Twinkl’s online content for educators in Wales. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation of resources for our Beyond Cymru product lines. You will work alongside the Twinkl Cymru writers, editors, designers and our Product Owner to create the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers. We are looking for a Welsh speaker who will be able to create resources in both Welsh and English.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Ideation of product ideas.
  • Working on projects to specific briefs.
  • Prioritising tasks effectively.
  • Writing new resources to support teaching and learning across the Curriculum for Wales.
  • Responding to editorial feedback and working alongside colleagues to produce high quality resources.
  • Producing resources which respond to customer needs and current teaching methodologies.
  • Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas.
  • Running workshops with other members of the team.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills with others in your team. Keeping communication channels open throughout your working day.
  • Attending any team meetings.
  • Peer checking when required.

Our ideal candidate will be a team-player who is passionate about education in Wales and keen to share their expertise with other team members. The position is remote and the hours can be worked flexibly with the expectation that you will have good daytime availability for training, meetings, collaboration and ongoing CPD, particularly in your training/onboarding period. You would need to be available around our core hours (10am-2pm) Mon-Fri. Fluency in Welsh is essential.

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to create and ideate engaging resources for secondary school aged children and their teachers.
  • How to peer check content and provide suggestions if required.
  • How to work in agile teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines. 
  • How to apply your teaching experience to create new products.
  • How to use Project Tracking software as well as other in-house systems.

You’ll work with:

  • The Twinkl Cymru Product Owner
  • Your own Line Manager
  • Our team of qualified teachers who write, edit and produce content for the Wales team.
  • Our in-house design and illustration teams, collaborating to produce our fantastic product.

Requirements:

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Have completed NQT with 2 years or more of teaching experience in secondary schools. 
  • Have detailed up to date knowledge of the curriculum for Wales. 
  • Be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and GSuite.
  • Understand the teaching community in Wales, knowing their unique pressures and being aware of current educational trends.
  • Have a drive for continuous professional development.

We're interested in someone who meets all of the following: 

  • Has QTS with at least two years experience of secondary school teaching.
  • Has detailed knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales and its application in the classroom.
  • Is a fluent Welsh speaker.
  • You will be responsible for supplying and maintaining your own IT equipment.
  • You will need access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.
