Job Summary

As the UK & Ireland Commercial Manager, you will lead market expansion and drive revenue growth for our products and services in one of our largest markets. You will shape strategic direction, develop and execute go-to-market plans, expand market presence, and drive sales success. You will oversee the go-to-market strategy for England and collaborate with country and segment managers across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy

  •  Develop Strategies: Create comprehensive GTM strategies for the UK & Ireland, including market analysis, customer segmentation, pricing, distribution channels, and promotions.
  •  Set KPIs: Establish KPIs to evaluate GTM initiatives' effectiveness. Monitor performance, analyze results, and report to senior management.
  •  B2C and B2G Focus: Enhance B2C growth and consider B2G strategy deployment to target government sales.

Sales Strategy

  •  Revenue Growth: Implement a commercial strategy with a strong B2C focus to drive revenue, market share, and profitability.
  •  Sales Initiatives: Lead sales initiatives, generate leads, and develop customer acquisition strategies to meet revenue targets.
  •  Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements to drive profitable relationships.
  •  B2B Channel Expansion: Identify opportunities to expand customer growth through outbound B2B activity and account management.

Strategic Leadership

  •  Team Management: Lead and manage a high-performing team, including country managers and segment managers, to achieve business objectives.
  •  Professional Development: Coach and mentor team members to drive performance and professional growth.

Operational Management

  •  Optimize Operations: Oversee daily operations and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  •  Monitor Performance: Track key performance indicators and financial metrics to monitor company performance.

Content Development

  •  Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with content development and country managers to enhance existing content and create new offerings.
  •  Drive Innovation: Lead product innovation and development tailored to the UK & Ireland market.

Customer Engagement

  •  Foster Relationships: Build strong customer relationships and gather feedback to improve services.
  •  Enhance User Experience: Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and user experience.

Market Expansion

  •  Identify Opportunities: Pinpoint key markets and segments for expansion and develop effective penetration plans.
  •  Monitor Trends: Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform decisions.
  •  Targeted Campaigns: Collaborate with marketing teams to create campaigns that generate leads and drive sales.
  •  Local Partnerships: Develop local partnerships to achieve strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading market expansion and revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, leadership, and team management skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience in both B2C and B2B sales strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.

We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or relevant post-graduate qualification preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in marketing, product management, or business development roles, with a focus on go-to-market strategy and execution.
  • Familiarity with the UK education landscape and market dynamics.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful go-to-market strategies, in the EdTech sector. 
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth, market expansion, and business success with a B2C orientation.
  • Strong strategic planning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in line management and team development.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage complexity, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in operations management.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulatory requirements, laws, and industry standards.
