Location: Hybrid, able to work in the Sheffield HQ 2 days a week
Annual Salary: £30,000-35,000

Twinkl is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Coordinator, who will be part of a team of three responsible for the end-to-end payroll processes for a UK team of 1,200 plus 600 international subcontractors, teams in Australia and the US, and several other small businesses in the UK. With large company growth expected over the next couple of years, you will play a key role in helping to ensure we maintain a streamlined and seamless service to our team.
The Payroll team is responsible for processing all aspects of payroll and benefits for the team. The role will include;
Processing starters and leavers
Statutory calculations such as SSP, SMP, SPP
Resolution of payroll queries from team members
Liaising with HMRC on queries
Distribution of internal and external reports
Monthly Pension Auto Enrolment processing including reconciling monthly pension contributions and running the process for re-enrolment every three years
Preparation of monthly journals including posting onto the finance system
Key Responsibilities:
- Process starters, leavers, and all aspects of payroll and benefits administration.
- Conduct statutory calculations, including SSP, SMP, and SPP.
- Resolve payroll queries from team members in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaise with HMRC on payroll-related queries and ensure compliance.
- Distribute internal and external reports as needed.
- Manage monthly pension auto-enrolment processing, including reconciling contributions and handling the re-enrolment process every three years.
- Prepare monthly journals and post them onto the finance system.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing, preferably with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate payroll information clearly to non-Finance team members.
- Proficiency in manual payroll calculations.
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel.
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Desirable Skills:
- Experience using Sage Payroll, Sage Accounting, and QuickBooks.
