About Us: Twinkl is a leading educational publishing company dedicated to delivering high-quality resources to our customers. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundskeeper to join our team. If you are a proactive, hands-on individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for maintaining equipment and facilities, we want to hear from you.

Position overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Groundskeeper with a strong background in grounds maintenance and general maintenance tasks to join our team. As a Skilled Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our outdoor spaces. In addition to your groundskeeping expertise, you will also be expected to perform various maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning and aesthetics of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

● External checks: You will be responsible for checking the sites in the Sheffield area. Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify and address any issues related to outdoor structures. Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter months and pressure washing.

  • Maintain Clean and Safe Outdoor Spaces: Ensure all external grounds, walkways, and entry areas are clean and presentable, addressing any litter, debris, or items left on the property. This may involve handling occasional unexpected items to maintain a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors and staff. Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.

● Gardening: Perform routine gardening tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning to maintain the external greenery. Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement improvement plans.

● Supporting with maintenance and repairs: You will be working with another maintenance operative. Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, repairing structures, and maintaining the Sheffield sites. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and address and support the lead maintenance operative on issues related to plumbing, electrical, or other general maintenance tasks such as spot repairs to HVAC and other systems onsite.

● Adaptability: Given the nature of working across multiple sites, the operative should be self-motivated and capable of working independently. They should be able to adapt to different work environments, follow safety protocols, and adhere to relevant regulations and procedures.

● Multi site role: You are expected to have a flexible approach at all sites which are based in Sheffield. We currently have 7 different sites that we maintain, you are not expected to use your own vehicle as we have an electric van to get you between the sites. You will be expected to keep the vehicle in good condition and minimise wear and tear.

● Emergency Response: Respond to maintenance emergencies promptly and efficiently to minimise disruptions at the sites within your working hours.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Groundskeeper, preferably with a focus on both groundskeeping and maintenance tasks. A strong knowledge of landscaping techniques, basic gardening and grounds maintenance. A proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment and tools and a familiarity with irrigation systems and their maintenance.

A basic understanding of general maintenance tasks such as painting, repairs, and upkeep of outdoor structures. Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions will be required and an ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Relevant certifications or qualifications in groundskeeping or maintenance are a plus.

We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:

● Minimum of 2 years experience in gardening or external groundskeeping. ● Accreditation or qualifications for maintenance.
