Content Writer - Translator (Sesotho)

Location: Twinkl: Fully Remote 
Contract Type: Full time -  International Contractor
Salary: $5.50 USD per hour 
Hours: 37.5h per week - Monday to Friday

You’ll join a team of passionate teachers working to create Twinkl’s online Sesotho content for teachers across South Africa. Most of your time will be spent working with other Content Writers and Editors, engaging with product priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers. Your weekly activities could include:

  • Translating resources into Sesotho to support teaching and learning across the curriculum. 
  • Giving and responding to editorial feedback and working alongside colleagues to elevate a resource to an excellent standard.

  • Using their own knowledge of Sesotho to support the team with their resource content. 

  • Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas.


Our ideal candidate will be passionate about giving back to the education community and keen to share their Sesotho expertise with others in their team. This position is remote and the hours can be worked flexibly with the expectation that you will have good daytime availability for training, meetings, collaboration and ongoing CPD, particularly in your training period. 

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • have completed a degree in Sesotho , translation or similar;

  • have translation or teaching experience with good references;

  • be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team;

  • Be fluent in English and Sesotho (written, reading and writing)

  • be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and G Suite;

  • have a drive for continuous professional development.

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to use Project Tracking software as well as other in-house systems. 

You will need:

  • Access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.

  • You will be responsible for supplying and maintaining your own IT equipment if working remotely.

You’ll work with:

  • The SA production team.

  • Your own direct Line Manager who will be confirmed if you are successful. 

  • Our team of qualified teachers who currently write, edit and produce content for the team.

  • Our amazing in-house design and illustration teams, collaborating daily to produce the beautiful, polished resources that Twinkl are known for.
