SEMH Teaching Assistant – South Sheffield | Elevate Supply

Elevate Supply is excited to be working with a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Provision in South Sheffield, which is looking to appoint a caring, resilient, and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support their students after the May half term. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of young people who need extra support both academically and emotionally.

🟢 Pay Rate: £90 – £110 per day, depending on experience.

Contract: Full-time, starting after May half term and running through to the end of the academic year, with strong potential to lead to a permanent role from September 2025.

The Role: As a SEMH TA, you’ll work closely with students aged 7 to 16 years old, providing one-to-one and small group support in both classroom and intervention settings. The role involves building strong, supportive relationships and helping pupils manage their emotions and behaviour to access learning successfully.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for students aged 7–16 with SEMH needs

  • Build trusting relationships to help students feel safe, supported and understood

  • Help deliver personalised learning and emotional regulation strategies

  • Support with behaviour management in a consistent and calm manner

  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams

  • Contribute to creating a nurturing, inclusive and structured environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs (e.g., in schools, residential care, youth work, or mental health support)

  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient nature

  • Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills

  • A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service is required (or willingness to obtain one through Elevate Supply)

  • Available full-time and ready to start after May half term
